I have a problem with books. If I like them, I get into them, and read too fast to really digest the story. If I don't get into them, I read them too slow and set them aside so that I have to stop completely or start from the beginning because I have forgotten the story.

Yesterday I picked up Black Powder War, third in the Temeraire series. I thought, 'maybe I'll read one chapter every day.' Last night I read the prologue and the first chapter. Now, I am on page 243 in Chapter 12. The best solution I can think of is to reread all three when I am done.

This is why I can't read novels during the school year. If I only I could apply the fast-reading skill to text books...
