But really I'm thinking about how I need to find out how to screencap because the bit where Westley stands up would make an awesome icon.
Watched 3 eps of Stargate last night with Kirsten. :) It's a happy show. It was way back in the first season, so the characters were still getting to know each other. I thought about why I like this show, silly as it often is.
Well, silly can be good, and I like that it doesn't take itself seriously. Also, I like it because I'm generally not too lost when I watch random episodes. (Not that I do not regularly watch TV). This makes it much better to me than, say, Babylon 5, which I heard was good but found quite incomprehensible when I tuned in. Yesterday, I realized that it's different from the majority of shows because it's not about teenagers. That can get repetitive, even if I am a teenager. When I saw a kiss between Jack and, uh, wossname the ex, I thought, "Wow! Middle-aged people kissing!" The media analysis course I took last semester made me tune in more to stereotypes on TV and I like that this breaks it. Sam is a good female character. She's neither matron nor sex object. And Jack and Daniel, well, everybody actually, work well together. Group interactions are interesting and amusing.
First I saw "The First Commandment," a rather heavy-handed one about colonialism. Then, "Cold Lazarus," which I found touching. Last, "The Nox," which was cute.
Other things I am currently enjoying are Full Metal Alchemist, Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (and the bgm is good study music), Hot Hot Heat (the songs stick in my head), Naruto of course, Paradise Kiss, and Transmetropolitan (Patrick just lent me the last two! Squee!).
I'm planning on changing my icons soon, but I better get back to work on this essay...Current Mood: procrastinating
